A new report led by CREW, Scotland’s Centre of Expertise for Waters highlights how a natural capital approach can strengthen River Basin Management Planning (RBMP) and help protect and improve Scotland’s water environment. The study explores how natural resources across river catchments influence water quality, biodiversity, climate resilience and the wider benefits that rivers, lochs, wetlands and groundwater provide to society and the economy. The project will help inform future policy development and provide evidence to support integrated, catchment-scale approaches to managing Scotland’s water environment, ensuring that environmental, social and economic benefits are better recognised and valued.
